October 3 - 5
This is the third year mostly young families with children have gathered at the Tozanso Y camp about 1 ½ hrs from Tokyo. About 30 folks came already Friday night for an overview, singing and ice breaker games led by volunteer and paid staff.
By Saturday morning, more families arrived and many singles. Two sessions were held after breakfast, one led by John in re “Finding your Authentic Identity” and the second led by Barry on “Discovering your ‘Spiritual Type’”.
There was an acted out fable early Saturday afternoon, leading to more intergenerational games with all ages taking part. Amy Mathies was able to borrow equipment from her children’s school (like a huge parachute, a thick rope for Tug of War, and relay races for all ages).
Saturday evening there was a huge bonfire in the designated spot fixed by Elder Suresh Kukde and with singing led by Lauraleen Gaudio and others right up to the 9:00 p.m. cutoff time.
Pastor John led a fourth session on Sunday morning prior to worship on the topic of how light is made up of many colors of the rainbow/spectrum and that all colors are needed for churches and relationships to flourish in a healthy manner.

Closing worship included singing by our talented praise band and singers (led by Suzie Kim), prayer requests solicited and prayed for by Teddy Jennings, short meditations by Pastor John and including a World Wide Communion celebration.
The TUC Choir had a parallel retreat to rehearse anthems for the coming season. They joined us for meals and the closing worship service, singing a special anthem for the occasion.
All in all, about 60 persons participated at one point or another during the weekend.
